Only
5% of empty cartridges are being recycled in Wales, contributing to the 30
million empty cartridges dumped in the UK every year, and this figure is set
to rise with more and more people using home computers and printers.
Not only this vast amount of empty cartridges shells take up huge volumes of
space in our already-limited landfill sites just one cartridge shell can take up
600 years to decompose and thousand of new ink cartridges need to be
manufactured from scratch every day using up our precious oil reserves.
By teaming up with a recycling company, young people in Youthlink have really
taken the initiative to make Wales a safer place and each cartridge recycled
will raise much needed funds for their charity.
They are working hard to educate nation and have set up a scheme that make it
easy for us to do our bit. We only have to make the "safer choice": don't
bin, it recycle it!
